Steak and potatoes go together.

The jail is a county asset not a liability and it needs to be treated as such. We need to finish what we started and make Citrus County the best ever.

Not publicly, the jail would be a better location for the mental health facility than a juvenile center if it was an asset.

It’s currently seen as a liability.
Tangible property
Management property
Resource management
Community Cost.

A great example is Santa Rosa County Jail.

Think about this we (Sheriffs Department) give a contract for CoreCivic and then take the contracts to manage the two cities, the animal shelter and fire ambulance department >>> getting them further away from the mission statement they hold.

It’s starts with alignment and then we find agreement.

While it may have made sense at the time, the long range planning is just not there.

For example it makes sense to put the US post office and County Libraries together, however they serve two different public entities and have different mission statements and sources of budget.

The fit for purpose must align with the mission statement of each department.

There was a time when educational departments and sheriffs departments worked together and at that time a juvenile detention center made sense. Without the continuity of thought and mission and the fact that they are not working together we see third party come in and take advantage of our systems.

Another example let’s build a multimillion dollar shopping area and not widen the roads first.

It will all get done however we must put first things first and make Citrus County first and make our Citizens our greatest assets and not put them in the liability category. ~ PaulMGrogan NPA
